Zines & Books

The Library

A growing collection of books and zines born from my work. Some are educational, using photography to explain a subject, like Per Gradi, a climate book for schools made with EuCliPa.it. Some gather the results of my Photovoice laboratories, where communities tell their own story. Others carry a project further, like SHAME, European Stories, endorsed by the Council of Europe. A few are free to download, others are published editions to buy.

I Graffiti di Venezia

Venice, read through the marks on its stones. For centuries, hands carved and painted signs into the walls of the city: ships, faces, dates, names, crosses, prayers. This book is the first complete survey ever made of them, over six thousand graffiti mapped across Venice and its islands in five years of research, from just after the year one thousand to the mid twentieth century. Written by Alberto Toso Fei and Desi Marangon, with over 350 of my photographs, it reads the city not through its rulers, but through everyone who left a mark. Published by Lineadacqua.

Shame | European Stories

The faces behind a silence Europe kept for too long. SHAME gathers the portraits and voices of survivors of childhood abuse, met with dignity across the continent. It became a travelling exhibition shown in over twenty European cities, from the Council of Europe in Strasbourg to Oslo and Lisbon, and the book that carries it further. Endorsed by the Council of Europe, it is the visual heart of a campaign that reached the Assembly in Strasbourg. A work made to be looked at slowly, and not forgotten.
