For over fifteen years I have followed the slow stories, the ones that do not fit in a single day of news. Climate and the territories it reshapes, the memory of places, human rights and the people who carry them. I work in long form, returning across seasons and years, because some truths only surface with time.
 

I am not only a photographer. I am a community psychologist and a researcher, and this is the root of how I work. Where others point a camera, I ask who should be holding it. From this came Photovoice, in which I am considered a pioneer in Italy, that I later developed into Photo Story, a participatory method adopted by the European Commission, in which a community photographs its own reality and turns those images into change. I have led courses and master's modules in several Italian universities, and presented this work in Brussels, on photography as a tool for participation.
 

My photographs have appeared in National Geographic, the New York Times, The Guardian, Der Spiegel, the BBC and Forbes, among many other leading titles worldwide.

In February 2024 my work on the glass masters of Murano earned the cover and lead story of National Geographic Italia. My project SHAME, recognised by the Council of Europe, became a travelling exhibition that opened at the Venice Biennale and the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, and traveled across all the main European capitals.
 

As official photographer of the Edinburgh International Book Festival, I also work in studied, posed portraiture, from Nobel laureates such as Annie Ernaux and Wole Soyinka to writers, thinkers and public figures. Their faces gather in Portraits.

I do not photograph to illustrate a thesis. I photograph to understand, and to let a place say what it already knows. What follows are the projects where that patience has taken shape.
