Europe can restore a piece of justice

The people who had their pictures taken for the exhibition “Shame – European Stories” bear witness. They tell of the abuse they have experienced. They tell of the abuse they had to endure. Their stories are staggering. So much suffering has been inflicted. In our society.

The actual data from UN say that 1 person every 5 in Europe has suffered or is suffering of abuses or mistreatments, sexual, phisycal or psycological. The problem is huge and it is becaming bigger than ever. It is our responsability to protect the next generations.

In the member countries of the Council of Europe, children must be able to benefit from all the human rights and fundamental freedoms protected by the European Convention on Human Rights, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, and other international and European instruments on human-civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights.

LUISELLA PAVAN-WOOLFE

DIRECTOR OF THE

COUNCIL OF EUROPE IN ITALY

The exhibition «Shame - European Stories» should open our eyes and pave the way for a just solution in Europe. The Council of Europe’s support for this exhibition is not only honorable, but above all, it is meaningful. It shows that Europe, as a community of values, wants change. The victims, those affected, the survivors – they should all receive justice in their lifetime.

GUIDO FLURI

President of the Guido Fluri Foundation

We need to change things now and take action, with small gestures, by really listening to those around us and those crossing our lives, and taking a stand and asking forsolutions from the stakeholders, the governments, and the European Community.

SIMONE PADOVANI

Photographer of the Exhibition

When Simone Padovani told us about the Guido Fluri Foundation’s exhibition project
«Shame – European Stories», we immediately assured him of our collaboration,
convinced that there are too many cases in which children are victims of unprecedented violence.
